The high and diverse requirements of the car body coatings also apply to plastic coatings. The coating protects the plastic surface, improves the light and water stability and increases the mechanical and chemical resistance. Further on the coating is able to cover defaults and unevenness at the surface caused by production.

Resins are the base components of paints and are indispensable. After drying, they create the hard, resistant paint film and determine its characteristics. Therefore, Bollig & Kemper’s own resin development and production is a basic prerequisite for the development of tailor-made paints. Independent from the standard products offered by international resin manufacturers, we are in a position to produce unique resins, designed in such a way that the resin properties are directly linked to paint performance, requested by our customers.More
Our own resin development and production has a long tradition. In the late 1940’s, it was Mr. Hans Kemper who recognized the potential of making own resins and create unique paint formulations, fulfilling the need of customers. This was the reason for constructing a resin reactor in the beginning of 1950. Nowadays, the development of resins takes place in close cooperation with paint development. After the design phase in the laboratory, the scale-up takes place in two pilot reactors, and afterwards a large batch is produced in our production reactors. Our resin reactors have been designed in such a way that almost all types of chemical reactions can be carried out: different variations of alkyd and acrylic resins as well as polyesters and waterborne polyurethanes. The special design in our resin reactors particularly allows for precision production of aqueous polyurethane resin and micro-gel systems which are the basis for our waterborne paints. The resins we produce are predominantly used to manufacture our own paint formulations.
